How You Can Help
Looking for Something to Do in the Evening?
- Prepare or sponsor and serve a meal at Long Island Shelter or Wood Mullen Shelter. Community Meals Sponsors can be as small as four and as large as twenty people.
- We also need individual supper servers on weeknights at the Long Island and Woods Mullen Shelter. Dinner is served from 5:00 to 8:00 at Long Island and from 6:00 to 8:00 at Woods Mullen.
How About Something for a Weekday or for Your Company's Community Service Day?
- Painting projects are available at all of our sites can accommodate ten to twenty people.
- Landscaping / Gardening at the Hope Chapel and around the Island can be an on-going project for a small group or a one-day project for a larger group.
- Planting, weeding, harvesting at The Farm on Long Island can also be an on-going project for a small group or a one day project for a larger group.
Going Back to School?
- Teach a life skills training course such as budgeting, resume writing, interviewing, time management, goal setting, etc. to individulas in our transistional programs.
- Tutor students in reading, writing, math, or English as a Second Language.
- Train students in computer literacy.
Can't Get Out Here? Here are Some Volunteer Opportunities You Can Do Right From Your Office, School, Club, Church or Synagogue
- Can't get a group together, or can't make it to one of our sites? Hold a drive at work, school or place of worship or civic organization (clothing, toiletries, etc.), it's a great way to get the entire company, etc. involved and there is no set time limit.
Individual volunteers under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
