Beyond Shelter Evite 2013

Each morning we put on a clean pair of socks with hardly a thought.  But for our community’s homeless men and women these items are often a luxury.

By organizing a new sock drive at your office, school, place of worship or even with friends and family, you not only help our community's homeless with critically needed items that help keep them healthy and safe, but you also help maintain their dignity and comfort– a attributes to a successful move beyond homelessness.

To participate, all you need to do is donate at least one brand-new pair of men's or women's socks (wool or cotton tube socks work best). Operation Sock Drop is an easy and inexpensive way (for example, you can buy a 6-pack of cotton athletic socks at Target, Kohls and even CVS or Walgreens for just a few bucks) to have a big impact on the comfort, health and safety of the homeless men and women in our community.

Operation Sock Drop can be conducted at your work, school, place of worship or even at home. We can provide you with flyers you can post or email to notify co-workers, classmates, colleagues, friends or family. You just provide a place for participants to drop off their donations (most people just set up a box in a common area).

The winter months are the most difficult time of year for the homeless. Many of them are at risk to the elements. You can help our community's homeless keep safe and warm this winter by joining our Warm Hands Warm Hearts Campaign.

To participate, all you need do is donate at least one brand-new (or gently used) winter hat, scarf, pair of gloves or mittens, or new warm socks.  This is an easy and inexpensive way to make a lasting impact on the lives of homeless women and men in our community.

The drive can be conducted right at your place of business, gathering or worship. We can provide you with flyers to notify co-workers, classmates or colleagues.  All you need to do is provide a place for participants to drop off their donations (most people just set up a box in a common area).

By participating in Warm Hands Warm Hearts you will not only help keep our community's neediest, most vulnerable citizens warm and safe this winter, but you will also help maintain their dignity and comfort during this most difficult time of year.
